In two double-lessons (180 Min.) students of two grade 8 Bilingual History classes in groups of four to seven people prepared a three to five minute TV (modern) news-report on the „Storming of the Bastille“ on the 14th of July 1789 as the beginning of the French Revolution. Prior to this project causes, developments and events before the French Revolution had been dealt with in class. As a thematic preparation to the news-broadcast the class had also watched and discussed a television-documentary on the „14th of July – The Storming of the Bastille“. The composition of news-reports, their different parts and the means used had also been picked out as a central theme. These news-reports – which were then grabbed on video in the third lesson and shown to the classes in the aftermath – contained different scenes with news-speaker(s), local reporters, expert-interviews (revolutionaries, king), eye-witness-reports (militia, Swiss guards, citzens) etc., reflecting the students‘ comprehension of the significance of the „Storming of the Bastille“ and the 14th of July as the French  National Day, demonstrating their predominantly fluent and extensive English language skills on the way.
